Beauty and the IT Beast on the Same Side
That beauty and IT do not go together?
The Douglas company operates more than 1,700 perfumery branches throughout Europe. It focuses on selling products from the beauty and health categories and, in addition to physical branches, also runs a successful e-shop.
And physical branches are at the heart of the problem that Douglas needed to solve. The environment and conditions in the stores must be maintained so that customers and employees feel good and the company does not pay excessive costs.
Challenge
The Douglas store needed to take control over consumption. Heating and cooling are activities that, if left unchecked, can make a big hole in the company’s pocket. Especially at a time when electricity prices are easing on us and an energy crisis can happen unexpectedly at any time.
So Douglas sat down with a search engine and looked for a company that would meet the requirements while keeping the cost of the solution reasonable. So the choice fell on the TCPRO team and the DASHPOINT solution.
The goal was to find a solution that would provide the manager with the basis for successful decision-making based on the collected data. Consumption will thus not be a matter of chance, but of appropriately chosen measures based on regularly collected data.

Result
The DASHPOINT team focused on collecting information about how the store is used to operate, including the storage. By understanding the needs as well as mapping the equipment in the store, the TCPRO team was able to design a solution to equip the sensors that would collect the data.
As a result, Douglas got a custom-made dashboard that shows the information. Data are displayed using clear graphs in selected time periods.
The sensors were selected, fitted and the dashboard was custom-made. The data is now processed in real time and displayed in a form that helps the Douglas store change the temperature in the store so that the environment remains pleasant and costs are optimized.
Thanks to the DASHPOINT IoT system, the store achieved savings. After comparing the costs before the installation of the sensors and after installation, the overall savings ranged from tens of percent. In addition, Douglas has full control over consumption at any given moment.
