Already in 2015, the city of Pisek joined the Smart City program whose long-term goal is to have a gentle approach to the environment and increase the life quality. One of the pillars is the optimization of energy consumption costs in city buildings such as offices or schools.
The City of Pisek had good experience with the solution monitoring air quality that was supplied by The Cloud Provider. This is why the team was tasked again, this time with created and operating a central monitoring system of electricity and water consumption in 5 buildings owned by the city. These were schools, cultural spaces and the city hall.
The primary goal was to verify the ability to use the IoT sensors to monitor consumption and detect critial states (like water leaks). At the same time, it was necessary to save time that was each time devoted to the readings of water and electric meters. These have been placed in difficult-to-access places. Outside of this, the city also had the following goals:
When all requests and the overall scope of the project have been processed, the city received a complete documentation regarding the implementation of sensors and the DASHPOINT platform set-up – that not only processes the data but also vizualizes them. Pisek received their own dashboard with the selected parameters. Everything adapted to specific needs.
The DASHPOINT platform enabled the city to set various levels of access rights to specifc persons so that everyone had information they needed. The lead workers received access to summary information, the operation workers working in individual buildings received information building specific and in more detail. These are recorded by sensors so there are no more mistakes then when the data had to have been recorded manually.
A time interval has been set for the platform to update. It stemmed from experience to ensure the platform informs relevant personnel on time when limits breached or there is a sudden spike in consumption. The system sends allerts to possible incidents through email and text so the city can timely react to potential problems and prevent negative consequences.

The City of Pisek has access to detailed data about the energy behaviour of individual buildings thanks to the DASHPOINT solution. It gives a much better picture regarding the energy consumption compared to the monthly distributor readings. The city uses the data eo efficiently approach energy management and also plan solar plants, for example.
The city also prevents potential leaks and as soon as any non-standard situation occurs, system alerts are sent for immediate reaction. Thanks to the individualized access rights, employees see only information they need so there is no time wasted on running from a meter to another one or reading through tons of irrelevant data.
